Basant

/ buh-suhnt / noun
Basant is a traditional spring festival celebrated in Punjab, India. It marks the arrival of spring with vibrant colors in the sky, kite flying, and cultural festivities.

When brainstorming the theme for this collection, we aimed to capture the essence of new beginnings, reflecting Sanzaar's ongoing commitment to sustainability. Drawing inspiration from our culture and childhood memories, Basant emerged as the perfect muse.

Basant has always been a cherished time of joy and camaraderie for us, with its colorful skies and the simple delight of flying kites from our rooftops. It symbolizes community and shared experiences, even as we pursued our individual kite-flying adventures. For this collection, we incorporated embroidery techniques like kantha to depict kite motifs, vibrant skies, sun, and moon, infusing each shirt with nostalgic charm.

What makes each shirt truly special is the intricate hand-embroidery process, which takes 12 to 18 hours to complete. Each stitch is a labor of love, ensuring that every shirt is a unique work of art, crafted with care and dedication.

Basant is a significant milestone for us as it marks the launch of our first 100% sustainably sourced collection. From fabric to the wooden and shell buttons, we ensured we use organic and eco-friendly materials to make these special shirts.

As a brand committed to growth and environmental responsibility, we diligently sought out suppliers whose processes align with our values. We are proud to have partnered with exceptional teams to procure the beautiful, eco-friendly Kala Cotton and Tencel fabrics that form the backbone of this collection. Each fabric underwent rigorous testing and vetting to ensure that our promise of sustainability is coupled with uncompromising quality.
